Synectics Security is a customer-focused systems integrator, developing tailored solutions which are precisely tailored for individual customer needs, from electronic security systems for complex, critical or highly regulated environments, to on-vehicle transport systems that protect, passengers, drivers and on-board staff.
Job Purpose:
- To provide financial and strategic leadership to the Security business, working closely with the Managing Director & leadership team to drive day-to-day financial and operational performance
- To ensure controls and reporting are in place to support efficient day-to-day running of the business, operational decision-making, and oversee production of monthly divisional and group reporting & management accounts
- To provide appropriate supporting evidence for decision-making to direct the business’ finances effectively whilst demonstrating necessary people skills to work co-operatively & collaboratively with divisional finance team, leadership team & wider business
Principal Accountabilities:
- Working closely with Managing Director to drive day-to-day operational performance
- Taking ownership of financial reports, controls and development of leading measures/KPIs, including those submitted for group reporting
- Preparation of monthly management accounts and reporting pack
- Maintaining a robust internal control environment, ensuring internal controls are properly implemented and performed and group-wide policies and processes are properly adhered to
- Stock reporting and control, including management of stores and purchasing teams
- Quarterly and annual stock takes including variance reporting
- Management and development of existing finance, stores and procurement teams
- Management of the annual planning, budgeting and forecasting process
- Identify financial risks and opportunities
- Preparation of VAT returns and Intrastat reporting
- Cash management, including weekly cashflows
- Annual budget preparation and forecasting for monthly accounts
- Ensure a robust system of credit control is implemented and controlled
- Full year and half year statutory accounts pack for plc group accounts purposes, annual statutory accounts and tax pack
- Manage annual audit process for the Security business
- Ensure FAR is maintained and appropriate CAPEXs completed
- Production of intercompany statements and balances

Qualifications and experience:
- ACA qualified (CIMA/ACCA with relevant experience also considered)
- Proficient in applying principles of IFRS, in particular, IFRS15 in a projects-based environment
- Working knowledge of management and reporting of inventory including stock takes
- Demonstrable experience of taking a broader strategic approach (informed by financial expertise alongside commercial and business knowledge)
- Experience in preparing management accounts
- Accurate and comprehensive data presentation skills
- Strong Excel and IT skills
- Experience in a divisional role of a Group would be advantageous
